French National Day (Bastille Day)
The school celebrated French National Day (Bastille Day) on 14th July with a vibrant and entertaining 30-minute cultural program that showcased the students’ enthusiasm for the French language and culture.
The event commenced with Dhanusree of Grade 10 gracefully anchoring the program, warmly welcoming the audience and introducing the significance of Bastille Day. This was followed by an insightful introductory speech by Layaa and Anshita of Grade 10, who highlighted the history of the French Revolution, the values of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity, and the importance of celebrating French culture around the world.
The cultural performances began with melodious French songs presented by the students of Grade 3 and Grades 4 & 5, whose cheerful voices created a lively atmosphere. Their confident performances reflected their growing interest in learning the French language.
The audience was then treated to an energetic dance performance to the popular French song “Comment ça va?” by Pratyusha, Delighta, Jazmine, Henna Nevil (Grade 7), Nawrah, Biashda, Saashi, Preenita, and Ailani (Grade 6). Their colourful choreography and enthusiastic expressions captivated everyone present.
Next, Abhirath presented a beautiful French song, impressing the audience with confidence and expressive singing. This was followed by a spirited rendition of “Imbattable” by Kenish, Rakshith, Ryan, Pranav, and Aaron of Grade 9, whose energetic performance received enthusiastic applause.
Adding more excitement to the celebration was a graceful dance medley featuring
“Copines,” “Love Story,” and “Paro.” The performance by Aashiyana, Grace, Netra (Grade 8), Rhema, Candace (Grade 9), and Anshita, Dhanusree, and Layaa (Grade 10), presented in pairs, beautifully blended elegance, coordination, and creativity, earning great appreciation from the audience.
To make the celebration more interactive, the boys of Grades 6 and 7 conducted an engaging French-themed quiz, encouraging audience participation and testing their knowledge of French language, culture, and history. The quiz added an element of fun and learning to the program.
The celebration concluded with a thoughtful closing speech by Layaa and Anshita, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, teachers, participants, and audience for making the event a memorable success. As a mark of respect and appreciation for the occasion, everyone stood together to sing the French National Anthem, bringing the celebration to a fitting and patriotic conclusion.
The French Day celebration was a wonderful blend of music, dance, knowledge, and cultural appreciation. It not only showcased the talents of the students but also strengthened their understanding of French heritage and inspired them to continue exploring the beauty of the French language and culture.
